My favorite part of campaign season- debates!

I'm working on a post about our trip to Colorado to volunteer for McCain's campaign. But in the meantime, I wanted to mention the upcoming presidential and vice-presidential debates.

The first presidential debate is scheduled for this Friday night at Ole Miss. In the past couple of days, however, McCain has expressed a desire to postpone the debate, suspend his campaign activities and go back to Washington to help negotiate a solution to the financial market crisis (Remarks on the Economic Crisis: http://tinyurl.com/46l3jk).

Obama's camp has said, "This is a time to rise above politics for the good of the country. We cannot risk an economic catastrophe,'' but is still refusing to postpone the debate.

Either way, both candidates have agreed to visit Washington, at the request of President Bush, for a meeting with the President and other top leadership to discuss possible solutions for the unpopular $700 billion Bush plan (Washington Post: http://tinyurl.com/46datb).
